Termites are always foraging for food, building networks of tunnels to find new food sources to feed their growing population. The main pest termites are subterranean termites tend to remain well hidden, their presence often only being spotted once significant damage has been done. 

It is recommended that homeowners have a professional termite inspection every year, to check for evidence of termites in or near the house. During the inspection, one of our professional inspectors will thoroughly inspect the building and surrounding area for signs of termites, noting potential ‘weak spots’ that might allow termites to gain entry e.g. a wood pile stacked close to the house, or fence timbers in contact with the soil. With termites, defence is the best form of attack. Installing a termite protection system is the best way to deter termites from gaining access to a property. The two common options are: a baiting system, which sees bait stations pushed into the soil at regular intervals around the property; and a soil treatment, where are liquid termiticide is applied to the soil around the perimeter of the property, essentially creating a “termite barrier”. The choice of system depends on a number of factors, such as the building construction, soil type, susceptibility of the area to flooding, to name a few. Termite protection systems such as these are the most effective form of defence against termite attack.
